The Government of India is planning to introduce the Foreign Education Providers (Regulatory Bill) in the Parliament next month. If this bill is passed, it would allow foreign universities to set up branches in India.
Kapil Sibal, who is the Minister of Human Resources and Development, Government of India, said, " This is a milestone which will enhance choices, increase competition and benchmark quality in education."
According to the National Knowledge Commission, which is an advisory group to the Prime Minister of India, every year around 160,000 students leave India to study abroad. Ther are some foreign eucational institutions that offer programs in India however, these programs don't provide full time degrees but are either voactional or technical running for few weeks or months.
It will definitely help the students to get the quality education in India. The majority of analysts feel that this bill, if passed by the parliament, could help accelerate India'a ecomonic growth that has been powered in past by its best educated programmers, engineers and managers.
